New Year's Eve outfit

First and foremost, Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful and exciting time saying goodbye to 2012 and welcoming 2013. On the last day of the year I spent the morning catching up on Vampire Diaries episodes from the current season, and cleaning out my closet and magazine collection. A new year means a fresh start, and I like to get rid of things I no longer need or use. In the afternoon I went to my parents' house for an early dinner, and then back home to get ready for the night. My family and I always spend New Year's Eve at church. It's something we've done for as long as I can remember. It might not be as exciting and wild as many other celebrations, but it's very meaningful for my family to be together on this day in a very special place for us.

I typically like to wear something very festive and a bit glamorous for New Year's Eve, but this year I changed things up a bit. I had found this little black dress at JCPenney for only 14 dollars and I really wanted to wear it. At first I wanted to style it for a glamorous vintagey look, but I changed my mind at the last minute and embraced my Jenny Humphrey side. It's what I like to call "my dark side." I love all things girly and colorful and vintage, but I have a soft spot for the rocker / grungy look. It comes out to play once in a while, sometimes for lengthy periods of time, especially when I've been watching a lot of Vampire related movies / shows. =) Do you have a dark side, or a style different than your regular one that you embrace once in a while? I would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. Happy new year, dear! I love that look on you! I also have a soft spot for the rockera look, maybe it'll come out more this year.
